Kathy graduated from Memorial University in 2002 with a Bachelor of Kinesiology degree (honours) and then went on to complete a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from Queen’s University in 2006. She is currently employed with Eastern Health in Occupational Health and Rehabilitation.

Kathy has worked in both community-based and hospital-based settings in a variety of practice settings. She worked in Ontario for two years with an Assertive Community Treatment Team, providing skills training, symptom management, life skills and counseling to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness. Kathy returned to Newfoundland in 2008, at which time she started to explore a number of practice areas including orthopedics, general surgery, and medicine, before starting her current position in injury prevention and recovery management for long-term care and community-health services in St. John’s.

Continuing education includes many workshops held in Ontario and St. John’s over the past two years, including Bariatric Seating, Office Ergonomics, Motivational Interviewing, Authentic Leadership, Concurrent Disorders and Workplace Wellness.

Memberships include the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT), the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Occupational Therapists (NLAOT), and the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board (NLOTB).

At IOHS, Kathy is responsible for home demands analyses, ergonomic workplace assessments and mental-health return-to-work programs.
