Heather graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy in 1999. Since 1999 she has specialized in the area of occupational rehabilitation and has worked in both the private and public sector. Heather has had extensive training in various areas of occupational rehabilitation and completed Functional Capacity Evaluation training through both Isernhagen Work Systems and Roy Matheson and Associates, along with completion of numerous workshops, conferences, and seminars related to assessment, treatment, and injury-prevention programming.

Heather has worked extensively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and has significant experience performing Functional Capacity Evaluations, Return-to-Work services, Job Site Analyses, Ergonomic Consultations, Home Demands Analysis/Home Visits, and Case Management. She has also completed medical-legal evaluations as well as expert-witness testimony in court proceedings. Heather has presented on various topics including: Overall Health and Wellness, Workplace Injury Prevention, Office/Industrial Ergonomics, and Energy Conservation/Pacing Education. She has also conducted assessments and implemented intervention programs to assist clients’ recovery and potential return to work due to mental-health illness.

Professional associations include: Member of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT), the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Occupational Therapists (NLAOT), and the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board (NLOTB). Heather acted as an NLAOT representative on the Workplace Health Safety and Compensation Commission (WHSCC), and was President of NLAOT from 2003-2004.

At IOHS, Heather is responsible for functional capacity evaluations, ergonomic consulting, return-to-work services, job-site analyses, home-demands analyses, medical-legal evaluations, and case-management services.
