Highlights
Glenda graduated from Dalhousie University in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. Since graduation, she has worked in the central Newfoundland area in both hospital-based and private-practice and at the G. B. Cross Memorial Hospital in Clarenville for a four year period. Since 1991, Glenda has operated her own consulting business providing service for various agencies.
Glenda’s experience over her sixteen years of practice has been varied. She has experience in acute care, long-term care, ambulatory outpatient services, mental-health services, community-based occupational therapy, and occupational rehabilitation services. Glenda has functioned in various leadership roles and is currently the Regional Director of Rehabilitative Services with the Central-West Health Corporation.
Continuing education has been ongoing throughout Glenda’s career. Courses attended include: training in industrial and office ergonomics; training in application of the Focus Method of Functional Capacity Evaluation; work hardening/conditioning seminars; orthotic training courses; and management training through Canadian Healthcare Association to mention a few.
Current memberships include the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT), the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Occupational Therapists (NLAOT), and the Newfoundland and Labrador Occupational Therapy Board. Glenda volunteers with the Central Regional Disability Association and The Arthritis Society.
At IOHS, Glenda is primarily responsible for workplace assessment and ergonomic consulting.
