Work Site/Home Assessments

A vital step in maintaining health and safety is the setup of healthy and safe environments. Many people are shocked to discover that the places they frequent every day may be slowly and silently harming them.

Worksite assessments objectively quantify job demands and identify risk factors that could lead to injury or disability. These assessments can be used to:

  • develop pre-employment assessments by identifying specific essential job demands;
  • identify and eliminate injury risk factors in jobs, by modifying any existing set-up or equipment used; and
  • adjudicate claims or determine if an injury is related to a job. e.g., are there adequate risk factors present in the job to cause injury.

Workplace ergonomic assessments can uncover what might seem to be be minor issues, such as working areas that may be at an uncomfortable height, monitor angles that require constantly looking to one side, or repetitive tasks that can be better handled. Correcting even these "minor" adjustments can often eliminate stresses and greatly improve job satisfaction and productivity.

Home assessments are performed in order to determine a client’s current ability to perform homemaking and personal care activities. If challenges are identified, adaptive methods and equipment can be provided to maximize independence and safety. IOHS can also provide recommendations to achieve improved accessibility for optimal quality of life, safety and independence.
