IOHS: Your Occupational Therapists in Gander

IOHS has had an occupational therapy consultant, Kelli Simms, in Gander since 2004 to serve residents there and throughout the surrounding area. Kelli Simms was previously employed as an occupational therapist with the Central East Health Care Institutions Board in Gander, NL.

Kelli's past experience includes conducting an accessibility study for persons with disabilities, and work in an acute-care setting at James Paton Memorial Hospital with the surgical program (orthopedics and general surgery). She handles daily living assessments, equipment assessment and prescription, seating and positioning, pressure management and client and family education.

Kelli also provides care at the Notre Dame Bay Memorial Health Centre in Twillingate and Fogo Island Hospital, handling geriatrics, seating and positioning, pressure management, splinting, orthotics, ergonomics, workstation reviews, client and staff education and home visits to complete accessibility assessments.

Kelli is a member of national and provincial associations and boards, and is also involved in the Gander branch of Hip Hip Hooray and is the chairperson of the Equipment Disbursement Committee for Hip Hip Hooray.

At IOHS, Kelli is responsible for home and workplace assessment services in the Gander area.
